About this Organisation:
The Ministry of Education and Science is the leading state administration institution in the field of education and science, as well as in the fields of sports and official language policy, and it shall be responsible for the development of draft legislative acts regulating the relevant fields and draft policy planning documents, supervision of the implementation of the policy in the state administration institutions, agencies subordinated to the Ministry and capital companies, where the Ministry is a shareholder.
In the field of vocational education and training major tasks of the Ministry are:
- To ensure the development of the national policy in the field of vocational education, continuing education and life-time education;
- To organise the work of the vocational educational establishments subordinated to the Ministry ensuring the quality and accessibility of their services.

Ms Ķīse is a Senior Expert of Vocational Education Division of Department of Vocational Education and General Education at Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia. Her main tasks include development of new Cabinet Regulations in the field of vocational education and a new Vocational Education Law in cooperation with other institutions and social partners. Previously Ms Ķīse was a Senior Expert and a Head of Vocational Education Development Division of Department of Vocational and Continuing Education at Ministry of Education and Science and a teacher at Secondary School. She holds a lawyer qualification and Master degrees in Pedagogy from the University of Latvia.

Aivars Stankevičs is currently holding a position of the Head of State Service of Education Quality. His previous experience include the roles of the Head of State Inspectorate of Education and the chief state inspector and the head of department in the State Inspectorate of Education. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Science from the University of Latvia and PhD from Riga Stradiņš University.
