Austria - working within a national framework

The Berufsförderungsinstitut (BFI) vocational training institute is a major VET provider in Austria. It includes a national umbrella organisation and independent regionally-based VET providers that offer CVET, IVET, company-based training, courses for those entering the labour market and non-formal learning. Since the 1990s the regional BFIs have been certified to the EN ISO 9001 international standard. This case study includes three practices relating to quality assurance:

• measuring learner satisfaction;
• investing in staff training;
• developing a performance agreement with the Ministry.
