Joint Working Group of EQAVET and ECVET -
Using ECVET and EQAVET principles: some early experiences at national level
In 2014-2015, members of the ECVET and EQAVET networks worked on identifying how ECVET and EQAVET collaborate at the national or system level and share their experience in order to more deeply embed both European transparency instruments within their systems. The group met on 4 occasions between September 2014 and April 2015.
The Joint working group was established in response to a growing awareness at a European and national level that each instrument provides opportunities to support reform in vocational education and training (VET) and much can be achieved through closer collaboration. The working group was supported by the EQAVET Secretariat, the ECVET Team, and the European Commission.
The discussions led to a final report which is based on examples from 18 countries and a technical analysis of progress in using the principles from the two European instruments. The report also identifies areas for future cooperation between both instruments.
In producing the report the group considered how the examples represented one or more of the issues identified in the technical analysis, and looked at pilot initiatives that were being developed across Europe. The group identified a number of areas where further progress could be made at both a European and at a system level.
