Netherlands - Publishing inspection outcomes on the internet

In the Netherlands the inspection outcomes for each training provider are available on the internet. The inspections are used to compile an annual report on the system’s performance

In the Netherlands, VET providers are primarily responsible for quality assurance. As part of the national quality assurance system they are monitored through a national inspection system, organised by the Ministry of Education.

The current monitoring and inspection system has been in place since 1 January 2008 and is risk-based. Institutions which perform well ‘earn' the right to less supervision, whereas inspection is intensified at institutions with deficiencies in quality.

All institutions – including those that perform well – are visited at least once a year. The inspectors discuss in their visit the results of the risk-analyses with the board of the institution. Reports of inspections are published on the inspectorate’s website
