Italy - The national reference point

The Italian Quality Assurance National Reference Point is developing a twofold communication strategy which includes:

  • a “top down” approach from the institutions responsible for VET at system level to the training providers;
  • a “bottom up” approach involving the existing networks of VET training providers

The Italian Quality Assurance National Reference Point has established a Board of representatives from the relevant institutions (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, and Regions), the social partners and VET providers. In addition new decrees on the reform of technical and vocational schools include references to the EQAVET Recommendation and the need to develop indicators for self-evaluation and external evaluation. These are examples of the “top down” process.

On the other hand the Quality Assurance National Reference Point works with VET providers through their associations or through the school networks on quality issues. The Quality Assurance National Reference Point also promotes pilot projects and new approaches to quality assurance.
