Hungary - Using pilot projects

Since 2000 Hungary has supported and promoted VET providers’ quality assurance. Using European and Hungarian funds VET providers have introduced systems in line with the quality assurance cycle

In Hungary quality assurance and quality improvements in education are governed by legislation. A series of legal initiatives have supported improvements over the last ten years. These have ensured that the Common Quality Assurance Framework is at the heart of the systems used by 1400 VET providers.

A series of pilot initiatives have supported quality assurance in VET. These include:
•    the Comenius Quality Improvement programme for Public Education which provided a national framework for their quality assurance;
•    the Public Education Quality Awards to recognise outstanding performance and share best practice in Total Quality Management;
•    the Quality Improvement in VET Schools initiative which focused on 160 schools that were developing an institutional approach to quality assurance.
