Competency based assessment

DEFINITION 1:  The gathering and judging of evidence in order to decide whether a person has achieved a standard of competence.

DEFINITION 2:  Assessment in which the assessor makes a judgement of competency […] against clear benchmarks or criteria such as a competency standard/unit of competency, assessment criteria of course curricula, performance specifications, or product specifications. Competency-based assessment may be contrasted with assessment in which candidates are compared to others or graded, for example.
