Definition: Single question or task included in an assessment of learning outcomes. An item consists of three parts: the stimulus that provides the context of the task in audio, video or text format, a clear description of the task to be performed based on the stimuli, and the potential response options in a given format (dichotomous, multiple choices, partial credit, open-ended, essay, etc.).
