Brief description of the context of the VET system in Sweden

Sweden has appointed the National Agency for Education to be the Quality National Reference Point to assist in implementing the national strategy. This is done together with other relevant national government agencies such as the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education and the Swedish School Inspectorate. The Education Act came into force on 1 July, 2011 and curricula for upper secondary education from 1 July, 2011 (1 July, 2012 for adult education) regulate responsibility for quality assurance and quality development at school, local and national levels. Sweden put a Swedish Qualifications Framework (SeQF) into action in 2015. From 1 March 2015 all educational providers can apply for level placement. The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education is in charge of evaluating such applications.
